Murray Barnes Finister Celebrates 2019

The year started quietly, unfolding like a luxuriously deep yoga stretch … and then it was off to the races! Take a look back at some highlights of the year with us.

MBF On the Move. In January, Tommy Ratchford was invited to join the Governor’s team. Shaney Lokken joined Murray Barnes Finister LLP in February. Alex Murray stepped in during the year as office administrative/legal assistant.

MBF Steps Up. Murray Barnes Finister lawyers engaged with the public finance community at several conferences and panel discussions.

In February, Roger Murray participated on a panel discussing Public Private Partnerships for realtors, developers, elected government officials and economic development officers [click here to view materials].
MBF co-sponsored a dinner in Athens during the Georgia City-County Management Association (GCCMA) in March.
We sponsored the Attorney Luncheon during the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) Annual Conference in April.

MBF co-sponsored a dinner during the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Annual Conference in June.
In September, Terri Finister and Shaney Lokken attended the National Association of Bond Lawyers annual workshop, and the firm sponsored the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) Conference in Atlanta. MBF also co-sponsored a networking event for Women in Public Finance Georgia Chapter, for which Shaney Lokken serves as Vice President.
- - At the end of the month, Terri Finister spoke at the Georgia Government Finance Officers Association (GGFOA) Conference regarding “What To Expect When You Have Issued Bonds” [click here to view materials].
The firm sponsored the Association of University Research Parks (AURP) 2019 International Conference in November.
- - During the conference, Terri Finister participated on a panel regarding “The Art of the Deal: Finance and Structuring.”
Mae Charles Barnes and Terri Finister spoke at Georgia Tech’s in-house Continuing Disclosure Annual Education Session.
In November, Shaney Lokken spoke about urban redevelopment agencies as part of a panel discussion at the 2019 Economic Development in Georgia Law Seminar. She also participated in a panel entitled “Achieving Diversity in the Banking and Public Finance Industries” as part of a 2019 Diversity in the Affordable Housing Industry Forum hosted by FHLBank Atlanta.
